Responsibilities
Development of new student pathways for retention and persistence
Co-developed four new pathways for first- and second-year students to assist in retention and persistence, particularly among first-generation students.
Pathway development has included the creation of new programming and curricula for incoming students, including First-Year Interest Groups (FIGs). Students participating in FIGs will enroll in 10 credits as a cohort for the fall semester, in addition to other major-specific coursework outside of their FIG.
Organization of a new FIG focused on Healthcare and Leadership for the Fall 2025 semester
This FIG will be offered for 15 first-year students. It will be anchored by my first-year seminar, ECC 199: Health Communication. The FIG will also include courses in Kinesiology (KIN 130: Introduction to Health, Fitness, and Performance), Psychology (PSY 101: General Psychology), and Student Success (IDS 100: Skills for College).
Redesign of student support curriculum for both first- and second-year students in need of additional academic support as well as all students on academic warning and probation
Co-developed a new study skills lab course (IDS 095L: Study Skills Lab) and revised the college’s primary student success course (IDS 100: Skills for College) to assist students with developing effective study strategies, communication habits, and time management strategies.
